The Conference:
Dr Touré, Secretary General of the International Telecommunications Union invited again FerMUN to his agency. The theme for FerMUN 2014 was « engaging youth in climate global issues. Over three days, 550 young delegates from 30 different schools debated and produced resolutions . The debate was split in 8 different committees and a Forum on Child Online Protection in collaboration with the ITU. FerMUN 2014 has been the occasion to start a new partnership with the World Meteorological Organisation .

Opening Ceremony:
The opening ceremony of FerMUN 2014 was held at the United Nations Palace in Geneva, in its prestigious Room XX. For the ceremony, FerMUN was honoured to welcome, among other guests:
- Mr Moller, United Nations Offices in Geneva Director General
- Dr Touré, Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union
- Mr Jarreau, Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organization
- Numerous ambassadors at permanent missions at UNOG (France, Swiss, …)
- 550 delegates: 200 from the club and 350 from foreign schools, from 20 different countries
GA1: Climate and Water
- How to secure coastal areas from severe storms/tsunamis and organise an efficient emergency communication system to inform threatened populations.
- The issue of the melting Arctic Ocean and rising water levels: consequences on ecosystems and on the local human communities.
- Assessment of global water resources. The lack of a comprehensive assessment of global water supply and demand, development of redistribution systems of water for human consumption and irrigation.
GA2: Climate and Health Diseases
- The issue of the rise of waterborne diseases due to climate change.
- The effects of global warming on human health.
- The issue of water/ozone depletion leading to human health problems.
GA3: Climate change and agriculture
- New agricultural regions (ex: Greenland / Siberian regions): development of new crops in regions affected by climate change.
- The proposal to use run off water from collecting rainfall in cities.
- Increase of desertification with the loss of arable land.
GA4: Disarmament Committee
- The impact of weapon development and war on the environment.
- Land claims in the Arctic: states/aboriginal peoples.
- National claims to the North West and North East Passages / International waterways.
SPDC: Special Political and Decolonization Committee
- The issue posed by the threat of by a rogue nation or terrorist group equipped with nuclear weapons.
- The issue of how to improve awareness and knowledge of climate change amongst young people.
- The issue of Taiwanese independence.
HRC: Human Right Council
- Should climate refugees be considered as a new category by UNHRC?
- The issue of CC TV surveillance in cities.
- The issue of the surveillance in the transport of information and networking.
SC: Security Council
- Resolution of the conflict in Syria.
G20: Economical Committee
- The issue of negative economic impacts of global warming.
- The issue of developing efficient desalinisation technologies for the transformation of sea water to fresh water.
- The issue of relocating telecommunication infrastructures which are vulnerable to weather disasters.
FerMUN 2014 Forum: Child Online Protection
- The impact of developing standard processes for handling user generated content (social networks, mobile phones and interactive media policies).
- The impact of the development of e-financial transactions on youth online safety.
- The impact of online behaviour on good digital citizens (gaming, hacking, illegal downloading).
# NB: This issue includes how to raise awareness on how to use internet in a good way, so the risks and opportunities of ICTs. - The issue of grooming and online bullying.
